Wise Auto Shutdown is a lightweight, free tool that lets you automate when your PC turns off, restarts, or sleeps. The portable version is especially convenient because it runs directly from a USB drive without requiring installation.
Here is how to configure Portable Wise Auto Shutdown easily in just a few steps. Step 1: Download and Run the Portable Version
Because it is portable, you do not need to run a traditional installer.
Download the Portable Wise Auto Shutdown ZIP file from the official website.
Extract the ZIP archive to a folder on your PC or a USB flash drive.
Double-click the WiseAutoShutdown.exe file to launch the program immediately. Step 2: Select Your Desired Action
The interface is split into two clean sections. On the left side, choose what you want your computer to do. Shut down: Turns off your PC completely. Restart: Reboots your operating system. Log off: Signs out of your current user account.
Sleep / Hibernate: Puts your PC into a low-power state to save your session.
Lock screen: Secures your PC without closing your open programs. Step 3: Set the Time and Trigger
On the right side of the window, specify exactly when you want the chosen action to happen. You can choose from four flexible time triggers:
Specified time: Set a exact calendar date and time (e.g., 11:30 PM tonight).
From now: Create a countdown timer (e.g., shut down in 2 hours and 15 minutes).
Daily: Repeat the action every single day at a specific time.
On idle: Triggers the action after your computer detects no mouse or keyboard movement for a set period. Step 4: Enable the Reminder and Start
Before finalizing your task, look at the bottom-left corner of the window.
Check the box for “Remind me 5 minutes before the task is executed.” This gives you a chance to save your work or cancel the shutdown if you are still busy. Click the green Start Task button.
Minimize the application. It will quietly sit in your system tray (near the clock) until it is time to run. How to Cancel a Scheduled Task
If you change your mind, managing your active task is simple. Open the app from your system tray and click the red Cancel Task button. You can then close the program or configure a brand new schedule.
