How to Install and Configure CommView Remote Agent CommView Remote Agent is a specialized add-on utility for TamoSoft CommView and CommView for WiFi that allows for remote network traffic monitoring. By installing the agent on a target machine, administrators can capture and analyze packets from distant network segments without being physically present. Prerequisites

Administrator Privileges: You must have administrative rights on the target computer to perform the initial installation.

Compatible Hardware: The target PC requires a wired or wireless network adapter that supports the NDIS 3.0 driver standard.

Operating System: Supported systems include Windows 7, 8, 10, and Windows Server ⁄2012 (both 32- and 64-bit).

Separation of Roles: Do not install both the main CommView application and the Remote Agent on the same machine. Step 1: Installation

Run the Installer: Download the distribution package from the TamoSoft website and run SETUP.EXE.

Driver Setup (WiFi Only): If installing CommView Remote Agent for WiFi, the setup will first prompt you to install a specialized driver for your wireless adapter.

Copy Files: Follow the on-screen instructions as the program files are copied to the destination folder. Step 2: Initial Configuration

Immediately following the file copy, an Installation and Configuration window will appear. You must define two primary settings:

TCP Port: Enter the port number the agent will use to listen for client connections (the default is 5050 for standard and 5051 for WiFi).

Password: Create a secure, alphanumeric password. This is required for authentication and to enable packet encryption between the agent and the central console.

Once you click Next, the program will install any remaining drivers and launch as a system service. Step 3: Managing the Agent Service

The Remote Agent operates as a Windows service, meaning it starts automatically with the computer and runs even if no user is logged in.

System Tray: A small icon will appear in the system tray. Clicking it opens the console to view port status and connected client IPs.

Control Menu: Through the agent interface, you can start, stop, or pause the service under the File menu.

Updating Settings: Use the Settings menu to change the listening port or connection password at any time. Step 4: Connecting from CommView

To begin capturing data remotely, use the main CommView application on your central management PC: About CommView Remote Agent for WiFi
